For over 30 years, PenceOhio Company has manufactured vinyl and leather binders
in Ohio. We guarantee satisfaction with our products and stand behind
everything we make and sell.
What we do
Production
Machines
We manufacture our products solely in Springfield, OH, using advanced techniques
that generate exceptional results. We use only the finest materials in what we
make. Personalized imprints are created using special-order metal-dyes as a
foil-stamp, deboss, or silk-screen. Each binder is personally inspected for
quality to ensure customer satisfaction.
History
In 1975, Bill Pence, our owner and
president, purchased L.O. White, a small bindery in Coshocton, OH, from 83
year-old Leo White for approximately $7,000. L.O. White primarily produced
custom leather products on a small scale,
and had been in business since 1917.

A changing economy combined with improved technology prompted a shift from
primarily making leather goods to manufacturing custom vinyl products. This
allowed for mass production and an increased market share in the United States.
For example, PenceOhio Company worked with Mead® to develop and produce the
Cambridge™ line of binder products.
1980 marked a big change for PenceOhio Company in many ways. The company
purchased Universal Leather (also called Universal Check Cover Company), located in Springfield OH. Bill Pence
proceeded to move the company 125 miles west to the new location. As business
increased, larger space for manufacturing and inventory was needed, and the
company moved to its present location in 1982.
With the introduction of the Career Passport by the Ohio Board of Education,
PenceOhio Company entered this market in 1995. Since then we have manufactured
and sold over 2 million Career Portfolios/Passports to high schools and students
across the country.
We give back to the education community in numerous ways. Lorraine County
High School runs a yearly Career Passport contest, and we help sponsor the
prize. The students work hard to create the best content possible:
resumes, career narratives, recommendation letters, etc. Eight winners
come away with a polished Career Passport and a prize of $100. Music
students from Centerville High School approached us needing a presentation
binder for a local contest. We designed the product and gave it to the
students. Thanks to their hard work they are now going to the state level.
We wish them the best of luck in their endeavor!
